We would like to inform you that starting Sunday, October 19, Hiroto Nakanishi (Wood Sculpture), an artist represented by our gallery, will be participating in the opening exhibition, "Shoushou no Tomoshibi" (The Little Lights), at Shoushou, a newly established cultural facility in Seto City, Aichi Prefecture.
Shoushou is a new cultural hub created by metal artist Masaoki Kanamori and writer Kikou Hayashi. Born from a chance encounter and the restoration of an old private house, Shoushou is intended as a place "where one can deeply engage with intangible values and aesthetics, giving them visible form."
Mr. Nakanishi has been invited to this commemorative opening exhibition alongside esteemed artists active in various fields such as ceramics, glass, weaving, and calligraphy.
Mr. Nakanishi's work expresses a quiet and profound worldview by discovering the inherent beauty within decaying wood and carving away the superfluous. His wood sculptures, embodying the traces of the tree's life and the passage of time, will resonate with the history and space of the old house, lending a new dimension to his pieces.
We invite you to experience the world of Hiroto Nakanishi's wood sculpture in this serene space, which Mr. Kanamori and Ms. Hayashi describe as a place that "gently gives a dwelling to the vague feelings deep within the heart."
Additionally, a singing performance by Mr. Luca Delphi will be held on the first and second days of the exhibition. This promises to be a valuable opportunity to enjoy a deep sensory experience, both auditory and visual, within the space showcasing Nakanishi's work.
We sincerely look forward to your visit.
