Talk Event Appearance at matohu × atelier shimura "hikariwomatou" Exhibition in Kumamoto

ree

Starting Wednesday, December 3rd, the exhibition "hikariwomatou in KUMAMOTO" by matohu and atelier shimura will be held at the Shimada Art Museum in Kumamoto.

"hikariwomatou" (Wearing Light) is a project launched by the Tokyo Collection fashion brand matohu and the textile brand atelier shimura—which inherits the artistic spirit of Living National Treasure Fukumi Shimura—through a resonance with each other's creations. Based on the philosophy that "colors born from plants are essentially light," they use plant-dyed threads and hand-woven fabrics to bring the joy of wearing the colors of natural life into modern living.

Our gallery director, Nao Masaki, has been invited to join the representatives of both brands as a guest speaker for the talk event "Beyond the Boundaries of Fashion, Art, and Craft," to be held on the opening day of the exhibition.

In these uncertain times, there is a need for clothing that allows us to feel nature against our skin and gently embraces us. We invite you to experience the quiet and beautiful world woven by light and color, and the dialogue between the creators that unfolds within the historic gallery of the Shimada Art Museum in Kumamoto.
