Akiko Andou (1965 - )

Textile

Born 1965 in Nishinomiya, Hyogo Prefecture. Graduated from Nanzan Junior College, English Department. Married Masanobu Ando and started living in Tajimi City, Gifu Prefecture. After marriage, began to think about her own clothing lifestyle and started making sarongs (tubular skirts) and upper garments with the concept of long-lasting, wearable garments for all ages and genders, using ancient and modern fabrics. In 1998, started Galerie Momokusa with her husband. Since then, they have held solo exhibitions in various galleries. In addition, she continues to collaborate with Chiaki Maki, Takashi Taniguchi, Mina Perhonen, SPOLOGUM and Shobu Gakuen nui project.

1977 Settles in Nagoya after moving for the fourth time

1992 Marries Masanobu Ando and begins life in Tajimi, Gifu

1994 Begins making garments from ancient and modern fabrics

1997 Participates in mon Sakata 'Thread, Cloth, Clothing' exhibition

1998 Started 'Galerie Momokusa' with her husband.
