Artist Sadaharu Horio, who passed away in 2018 just before his 80th birthday, was a member of the Gutai Art Association from the mid-1960s until the dissolution of the association.

Since then, Horio's artistic activities, in which he sought truth through art in his daily life, have been an indispensable part of his life since around 1985.

However, he continued to work on the subject of ‘Ordinary things' like 'atmosphere', which usually exists without being noticed, until the day before he ended his life.

His exhibition at the Mori Art Museum, which opened at the end of June 2022, was a recreation of the artist's studio, and the heat of his work, which filled the walls, was overwhelming to many who saw it and is still fresh in their memories.

Our gallery has been developing the exhibition [ALIVE:  Continuing Art] since 2019, which consists mainly of his works, and this is the fourth time it has been presented in the form of a solo exhibition of his work.

We are sincerely pleased to be able to present the traces of an artist who continued to be born every day, while digging out his way of life, with the cooperation of the artists, galleries and family members with whom we have a relationship.

We hope you will be able to see the artist's breath up close and personal.
