Junpei Omori
"In your garden, I am there"
2023.7.18 - 9.1
Open:12:00 - 18:00
Ceramic artist Omori studied ceramics at Kyoto Seika University. Encountering Jomon pottery early in his career inspired him to create works that engage with memory and prayer through earth and fire. As he has continued to exhibit both in Japan and abroad, his perspective on life and death—deepened through personal experiences of serious illness and family loss—has become increasingly integrated into his practice, cultivating a quieter and more introspective world.
This exhibition centers on “I Am in Your Garden”, the most personal series in Omori’s career, created in response to the death of his grandmother. The vessels—soft clay forms risen through flame—gently embody traces of memory, the presence of loved ones, and the subtle boundary between life and death, resonating deeply with the hearts of viewers.
